Prophet Dies After Asking Followers To Bury Him Alive To Strengthen His Powers

A man died after he asked his followers to bury him alive so he can heal them. Self-proclaimed prophet Shamiso Kanyama of Muzarabani, Zimbabwe, accidentally died during a healing ceremony. Kanyama ordered his followers to dig a grave and bury him alive so that he can summon more healing powers.
However, when Kanyama did not come out of his grave, the soil was removed and he was found dead. Five members of the family were arrested and charged with murder. High Court Justice Owen Tagu heard that on the day in question the five men asked their priest, Zvidzai Muchengeti, for help to cleanse their home of evil spirits, which caused mysterious deaths in their family.
Kanyama was invited to the home to conduct the cleansing ceremony. Kanyama allegedly told the family that the cleaning process entails him being buried alive so that he can summon more powers to ward off evil spirits. Father Zvidzai told the court that Kanyama, helped dig the grave and then prayed before jumping inside. While laying face down, he ordered the family members to cover him with soil. Joseph Taderera told Justice Tagu that as the men were in the process of filling the pit, he asked the five men to stop, but Kanyama urged them to continue.

Buhari Hails Jonathan At AU Summit

Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has again acknowledged the role played byformer president Goodluck Jonathan inmidwifing a peaceful and successful transition programme in the country.
He said this on Sunday in his address to the AU Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“I cannot fail to acknowledge the very positive role played by my predecessor, President Goodluck Jonathan, in averting the feared crisis, and in facilitating the
peaceful transition of power between the two parties. President Buhari said his election had been described as historic.“I agree that it is indeed historic because for the first time in the practice of
democracy in my country, an opposition party has defeated the ruling party in a keenly contested election.“The election was also held against the backdrop of the fears and concerns
expressed both in Nigeria and among our international friends abroad and partners that the outcome of the election could spell doom for Nigeria.“I am glad that even though those fears and
concerns were not without basis, the outcome was totally different, to the relief of all of us,’’ he said. Buhari reiterated that the process, which was adjudged as the fairest and most
credible in the history of elections in Nigeria, was midwifed by the dogged and sustained determination of the Nigerian people, and their desire to deepen democracy. He said the people’s quest was amply
supported, and even encouraged by the goodwill of friends and partners in the international community.“I therefore wish to seize this opportunity to convey my very deep appreciation to all
those who contributed to the success of that election. (NAN)

My Mum Cut My Hands After I Ate At A Party: 10-yr-old Boy(Pic)

Nine-year-old Abdullahi Taoreed has never known any other mother except Ronke Olayinka. He was just a year old when his biological mother abandoned him and ran away. The woman was said to have bolted after Abdullahi clocked one year and was still crawling when his mates were already walking. Scared out of her wits that she might be saddled with a cripple, the woman took off, leaving the child to her husband.
She would later remarry. Since her exit from Abdullahi’s life, the woman had never once bothered to check on her little son. The boy’s father, unsure of what to do with a crawling child, decided to hand him over to his elder sister, Ronke Olayinka. Abdullahi’s mother and father would later die in different years, places and circumstances, leaving the child an orphan.
Thus Abdullahi grew up to know only Olayinka as his mother and addressed as such. The boy however soon realised something was fundamentally wrong, when Olayinka took to spanking him with wood, while she would use a cane on his other siblings.
He had got used to being pounced on and beaten within an inch of life with sticks and wood by his mother, but on June 7, 2015, Olayinka went too far. On one of such occasions, she got a new blade and used it to slash Abdullahi’s hands. Neighbours later told the police that the boy’s screams of pains almost brought down their building at Pipeline Street in Oke-Odo area of Lagos State, where the incident occurred. Filled with pains and terrified to his bone marrows, as the blade sliced through flesh, Abdullahi had repeatedly tried to snatch his hands away.

But Olayinka held onto the little hands like her life depended on her brutality. Unfazed by the bloodied hands and pains on the boy’s face, Olayinka took pepper and poured into the fresh wounds, eliciting more cries of agony. When Sunday Telegraph asked to speak with the wounded boy, neighbours said he had been rushed to a nearby hospital by policemen from Oke-Odo Police Station.
On Monday, Abdullahi was able to speak with our correspondent. By December this year, Abdullahi will be 10. The boy looked unkempt and had a lot of scars on his body. He also has two fresh wounds on his head. He said the head wounds were inflicted on him by his mother. “My mummy used wood to hit me on the head,” he said, sighing heavily. “I don’t hawk anything, but I do the cooking.”
The primary two pupil continued: “Yes, it was my mummy who inflicted blade cuts on my hands because I went to a party opposite our house to eat. There was no food at home. I was hungry, so I assisted the people holding the party to carry chairs. I knew that if I assisted them, they would give me food. They gave me food. My sister went to report to my mummy. “We went for evening prayer.
After the prayer, my mummy called me and started cutting my hands with a blade. She went out to buy the blade. The cut was deep. She poured pepper into the wounds. She then gave me a hot pot of beans to carry to the kitchen with the bloodied hands. “One of our neighbours, a woman, saw me and took the pot from me. She went and told everyone in the compound. People saw my hands and started crying.”
Some of the neighbours, who said they were tired of Olayinka’s alleged maltreatment of Abdullahi, mobilised and alerted the police. Recalling his life so far with his adopted mother, Abdullahi said: “It’s not every time my mummy gives me food. She uses a piece of wood to beat me, but uses canes on her kids.” Recollecting how he sustained one of the fresh head injuries, he said: “My mummy said I should go and buy kerosene. When I got there, the people said the money was not enough. I went home to tell mummy. She then used a piece of wood to hit me on my head.”

PDP Ready For Saraki, Dogara Defection–party Chieftains

Some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nigeria’s main opposition party, have said the party will warmly welcome erring members of the All Progressives Congress like Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The party chieftains, Senator Sam Egwu; Dr. Akilu Indabawa, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees; and Alhaji Owolabi Olorunoje, Chairman, Lagos State chapter of the PDP, told our correspondent on Thursday that defection of the erring APC members in the National Assembly would amount to paying APC back in its own coin.

Saraki, Dogara and some other APC legislators had gone against the party’s directive by putting themselves up for elections into principal positions in the National Assembly.

Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila were expected to be the only APC candidates presented for the positions of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives while George Akume and Mohammed Munguno, were to be their deputies, respectively.

But since Saraki and Dogara put themselves up for elections and won in their respective chambers against their party’s directive, speculations have been rife that their actions might be laying groundwork for their defection to the PDP.

Incidentally, Saraki and Dogara used to be PDP members before they defected to the APC in 2014.

Saraki has, however, described such insinuation as “absurd and laughable.”

But the PDP chieftains had said they would be welcome to the party should they decide to defect from the APC.

Egwu said, “What has happened now is just speculation about what has happened or what may happen tomorrow but the truth is that they are mature individuals and Saraki has said he’s not defecting but if he comes back to the PDP, we will receive him with open arms.

“People should understand that politics is dynamic and if they feel that they will be given the platform to exercise their fundamental rights more in the PDP, so be it, they should come back to the PDP and we have no qualms with that. After all, they used to be our members.”

He also described APC as ill prepared to be the country’s ruling party, saying the party lacked the vital experience required for the position.

He said, “What is happening shows that the APC is not actually prepared for their victory (at the poll). They forgot that this is not a party convention. The National Assembly is an independent arm of the government and they had to meet as scheduled.

“So it shows a sign of unpreparedness or not knowing the workings of government, for the party to schedule a meeting at the time the National Assembly was supposed to reconvene and have its business.”

In his reaction, Indabawa, who shared a similar view, said, “What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. If APC is getting payment in its own coins, they will be consumed by their own sweat. This is a product of their own machinations against PDP and it is haunting them back.

“That is why when you are planning; don’t ever plan evil against your brother because one day it will haunt you. So it is coming back to haunt them now.

“When they plotted against the PDP using Aminu Tambuwal (immediate former Speaker of the House of Representatives who defected from the PDP to APC) and others, they never thought that they would be in the government as the ruling party. Now they are there, so they are getting paid in the very same coin they produced.”

Olorunoje said, “PDP didn’t kick them out, it was as a matter of choice that they came to the PDP and left the party. PDP is a party that doesn’t belong to anybody; you can come in, register and leave when you want.

“This is the PDP so it’s the peoples’ party. So if he (Saraki) decides to return to the PDP today, he’s most welcome. When APC said the party would sanction their members, it’s like saying what they did was illegal. But what they are doing is not against Saraki and Dogara, it’s against the people of Nigeria.”

Osun Crisis, Beyond My Control

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Friday said the economic situation in the state that led to his administration’s inability to pay workers’ salaries was beyond his control.
He said it was heart-rending that he had found himself in the situation which he described as a quagmire.
Aregbesola spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed-doors at the Defence House in Abuja.
He said he was not happy the same way a head of a family would feel when he cannot meet the needs of his family members. He said, “No head of the family will be happy that he cannot feed members of the family.
“Extend that to state, it is heart-rending that I am in this quagmire.“But no matter how sad (I don’t want to use the word ‘depressed’), no matter how unhappy I am, the truth is that I will not fail to say that it is a situation absolutely beyond my control.
“I led an administration in receipt of regular allocation in which I do my budget.“Unfortunately, this allocation started falling in rapid form that totally disorganised my budget and any other arrangement.”
Aregbesola said those who want to be objective would readily admit that the Osun State of November 2010 when he assumed office and Osun of today are not the same.
He said people must give credit to the changes that his administration had brought about in the state, saying the changes were not miracles but were occasioned by application of resources.
The governor further explained that with the unexpected and sharp decline in revenue, his administration had a dislocation. The result of that dislocation, he explained, is the sad experience.
The governor added, “Were it to be Osun alone, probably I would not have an excuse.“I pray it does not continue. I am not sure if there will be any state that will actually escape from the biting effect of the absolute sharp drop which I call economic disaster that we are grappling with.
“Since my inauguration on November 27, 2010, I had made it a duty to pay salary on or before 25th of every month up until January 2014 when that became practically impossible.
“I have been giving the same staff who today are, regrettably and painfully, not being paid annual bonus that we call 13th month salary. There was no demand for it. I just felt that workers must be encouraged, they must be inspired.
“I did that religiously and faithfully from 2010 to 2013. The development that led to this began precisely in July when we received the June allocation and it was short by 40 percent.
“Since then, what we have been receiving from the Federation Account is less than the wages, personnel cost. It is far and not mildly less.”Aregbesola said he struggled with it till October 2014 when there was nothing else he could do.
He said the situation was further compounded by the fact that his government could not go to bank to borrow to pay the wages commitment. The governor however said that with the efforts he was putting in place, there might be solution by month end.
“It is a sad development. I am struggling to reduce the pain as much as possible and I am almost at the end of the efforts I am making to ensure that by the end of this month, I will have enough to at least meet to a large extent the salary needs of the workers,” he declared

Dr. Saraki, dogara's Emergence May Alter Buhari's Cabinet Lista

The emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate and Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the House of Representatives may have altered the cabinet consideration of President Muhammadu Buhari,THE PUNCHhas learnt.
Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, is from North-Central while Dogara hails from Bauchi, North-East.
The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is from the South-East while the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yusuf Lasun, hails from the South-West.
All these officers, except Ekweremadu, are members of the ruling APC.
The deputy senate president is the only member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
President Buhari was said to be waiting for the outcome of the election before making announcement on key appointments in his government.
Apart from the ministers, he was said to be waiting for the election of principal officers of the National Assembly before naming his Secretary to the Government of the Federation, his Chief of Staff and Special Advisers.
Investigations by our correspondent in Abuja indicated that the position of the SGF hitherto reserved for the South-East may now go to another zone because of the emergence of Ekweremadu.
In anticipation that the position would go to the zone, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was said to have submitted three names to the President.
Those on his list are a former Governor ofAnambra State, Senator Chris Ngige; a former Governor of old Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Prof. Anthony Anwuka.
It was gathered that in the negotiation that brought Saraki to power, the zone agreed to rather go for the position of the deputy senate president instead of the SGF.
The presidential source said, “President Buhari is seriously tinkering with the original list he has for political offices. This is because the emergence of the officers of the National Assembly has affected the original list he has.
“Though he was expecting some elements of surprise in the election, but I think he never bargained for a total disregard to party directive in the election of the officers.”
So far, in the distribution of offices, only the South-South region has not benefitted.
It was gathered that some people were arguing that since the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, hails from the zone, that should be considered as a position.
“Because of this, the zone is being considered for a strategic position by the President either as the SGF, CoS or others. But politicians from the North-East are still mounting pressure on the President to cede the position of the SGF to the area,” the source added.
The emergence of Lasun is also said to bethreatening the zoning of the office of the office of the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation to the South-West.
It was learnt that Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was saddled with the responsibility of nominating a lawyer for the position.
The VP, it was further gathered, would be in charge of justice and law reforms to be carried out by the Buhari administration.
If those who want the office taken out of the zone succeed, it was gathered that it may go to Kebbi State, where a particular SAN who worked for the presidential bid of Buhari and Osinbajo was being considered.
The argument of these set of people, wasthat majority of those being considered in the South-West, are not card-carrying members of the ruling party.
It was learnt that the President has however not made up his mind on this issue.
Our correspondent also gathered that the name of a former Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State, Mr. Olawale Edun, was being touted as one of the people to be appointed from the zone.
The snag in his nomination, it was gathered, was that he was being nominated out of Ogun State where he hails from with the intention of occupyingthe slot of his home state.
However, it was learnt that the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, is resisting the move by allegedly saying he would be the one to nominate minister from his state.
Also being touted as a minister is the Executive Chairman Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue and Chief Executive Officer Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Babatunde Fowler.
Efforts made to get the reaction to the story however were not successful as calls made to the telephone of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, indicated that it was switched off.
He also didn’t reply to a text message sent to him.
But a Presidential source said that “the non- appointment of some of the key aides of the President was because President Buhari was waiting for the elections at NASS.
“He didn’t want to make the mistake of appointing his aides from the zone where the leadership of both the Senate and theHouse of Representatives could have emerged.
“You know that the case of the South-East was particularly worrisome because they didn’t vote for the APC and they don’t have any senator or Rep from the APC. So, the way of taking care of the zone in key appointment was giving us headache.
“Now, the zone has come through the back door to get the office of the Deputy Senate President. That is okay for the Presidency. That shows the zone has helped itself and has also helped the Presidency.”
It was learnt that anytime from now, the President would name some of the peopleto be appointed into the key positions, especially those that may not need the approval of the Senate.

How Late General Abacha Really Died

“When I got to the bedside of the Head ofState, he was already gasping. Ordinarily, could not just touch him. It was not allowedin our job. But under the situation on ground,I knelt close to him and shouted, “GeneralSani Abacha, Sir, please grant me permission
to touch and carry you.” Contrary to insinuations, speculations andsad rumours initiated by some sections of the society, I maintain that the sudden collapseof the health system of the late Head of Statestarted previous day (Sunday, 7th June,
1998) right from the Abuja InternationalAirport immediately after one of the whitesecurity operatives or personnel whoaccompanied President Yasser Arafat ofPalestine shook hands with him (General
Abacha) I had noticed the change in thecountenance of the late Commander-in-Chiefand informed the Aide-de-Camp, Lt. Col.Abdallah, accordingly. He, however, advisedthat we keep a close watch on the Head ofState.
Later in the evening of 8th June, 1998,around 6p.m; his doctor came around, administered an injection to stabilize him. Hewas advised to have a short rest. Happily, enough, by 9p.m; the Head of State wasbouncing and receiving visitors until much
later when General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, the then Minister of the Federal CapitalTerritory, came calling. He was fond of theHead of State. They were very good friends. They stayed and chatted together till about 3.35a.m. A friend of the house was with me in my office and as he was bidding me farewell, he came back to inform me that the FCT Minister, General Useni was
out of the Head of State’s Guest Housewithin the Villa. I then decided to inform theADC and other security boys that I would beon my way home to prepare for the early morning event at the International Conference
Centre. At about 5a.m; the security guards ran to my quarters to inform me that the Head of Statewas very unstable. At first, I thought it was a coup attempt. Immediately, I prepared myself fully for any eventuality. As an intelligence officer and the Chief
Security Officer to the Head of State for thatmatter, I devised a means of diverting theattention of the security boys from my escape route by asking my wife to continue chatting with them at the door – she was in the house while the boys were outside. From
there, I got to the Guest House of the Head of State before them. When I got to the bedside of the Head of State, he was already gasping. Ordinarily, I could not just touch him. It was not allowed
in our job. But under the situation on ground,I knelt close to him and shouted, “GeneralSani Abacha, Sir, please grant me permission to touch and carry you.” I again knocked at the stool beside the bed and shouted in the
same manner, yet he did not respond. I thenrealized there was a serious danger. I immediately called the Head of State’spersonal physician, Dr. Wali, who arrived the place under eight minutes from his house. He immediately gave Oga – General Abacha
– two doses of injection, one at the heart and another close to his neck. This did not work apparently as the Head of State had turned very cold. He then told me that the Head of State was dead and nothing could be done
after all.I there and then asked the personal physician to remain with the dead body while I dashed home to be fully prepared for the problems that might arise from the incident. As soon as I informed my wife, she collapsed and
burst into tears. I secured my house and then ran back. At that point, the Aide-de-Camp had been contacted by me and we decided that great caution must be taken in handling the grave situation.Again, I must reiterate that the issue of my
Boss dying on top of women was a great liejust as the insinuation that General Sani Abacha ate and died of poisoned apples was equally a wicked lie. My question is: did Chief M.K.O Abiola die of poisoned apples or did
he die on top of women? As I had stated at the Oputa Panel, their deaths were organized.Pure and simple! It was at this point that I used our special communication gadgets to diplomatically invite the Service Chiefs, Military Governors
and some few elements purportedly to a meeting with the Head of State by 9a.m. atthe Council Chamber. That completed, I also decided to talk to some former leaders of the nation to inform them that General Sani
Abacha would like to meet them by 9a.m.Situation became charged however, when one of the Service Chiefs, Lieutenant General Ishaya Rizi Bamaiyi, who pretended to be with us, suggested he be made the new Head
of State after we had quietly informed him of the death of General Sani Abacha. He even suggested we should allow him access to Chief Abiola. We smelt a rat and other heads of security agencies, on hearing this, advised
I move Chief Abiola to a safer destination. Imanaged to do this in spite of the fact that I had been terribly overwhelmed with the crisisat hand. But then, when some junior officers over-heard the suggestion of one of the Service
Chiefs earlier mentioned, it was suggested tome that we should finish all the members of the Provisional Ruling Council and give thegeneral public an excuse that there was a meeting of the PRC during which a shoot-out occurred between some members of the
Provisional Ruling Council and the Body Guards to the Head of State When I sensed that we would be contending with far more delicate issues than the one on ground, I talked to Generals Buba Marwa and Ibrahim Sabo who both promptly advised us
– the junior officers – against any bloodshed. They advised we contact General Ibrahim Babangida (former Military President) who equally advised against any bloodshed but that we should support the most senior officer in the Provisional Ruling Council (PRC)
to be the new Head of State.Since the words of our elders are words of wisdom, we agreed to support General Jeremiah Useni. Along the line, General Bamaiyi lampooned me saying, “Can’t you put two and two together to be four? Has it
not occurred to you that General Useni who was the last man with the Head of State might have poisoned him, knowing full well that he was the most senior officer in the PRC? Naturally, I became furious with General
Useni since General Abacha’s family had earlier on complained severally about the closeness of the two Generals; at that, a decision was taken to storm General Useni’shouse with almost a battalion of soldiers to effect his arrest. Again, some heads of
security units and agencies, including my wife, advised against the move. The next most senior person and officer in government was General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who was then the Chief of Defence Staff. We rejected the other Service Chief,
who, we believed, was too ambitious and destructive. We settled for General Abubakar and about six of us called him inside a room in the Head of State’s residence to break the news of the death of General Abacha to him.
As a General with vast experience, Abdulsalami Abubakar, humbly requested to see and pray for the soul of General Abacha which we allowed. Do we consider this a mistake? Because right there, he – Abubakar
– went and sat on the seat of the late Head of State. Again, I was very furious. Like I said at the Oputa Panel, if caution was not applied, I would have gunned him down. The revolution the boys were yearning for would have started right there. The
assumption that we could not have succeeded in the revolution was a blatant lie.We were in full control of the State Houseand the Brigade of Guards. We had loyal troops in Keffi and in some other areas surrounding the seat of government – Abuja.
But I allowed peace to reign because we believed it would create further crises in the country. We followed the advice of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and the wise counsel of some loyal senior officers and jointly agreed
that General Abdulsalami Abubakar be installed Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces immediately after the burial of General Sani Abacha in Kano. It is an irony of history that the same Service Chief who wanted to be Head of
State through bloodshed, later instigated the new members of the Provisional Ruling Council against us and branded us killers, termites and all sorts of hopeless names. They planned, arranged our arrest, intimidation and subsequent jungle trial in
1998 and 1999. These, of course, led to our terrible condition in several prisons and places of confinement.

Prof. Jega To Retire With Seven National Commissioners, 16 Recs

Indications have emerged on Tuesday that Professor Attahiru Jega would retire alongside seven National Commissioners and 16 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) by the end of the month.
INEC’s REC in Lagos, Akin Orebiyi, dropped the hint yesterday in Lagos during the opening session of a two-day stakeholders’ review meeting on the role of media in the 2015 elections, organised by the UNDP – Democratic Governance for Development (DGD) Project II.
Orebiyi, who said the commission could not fulfill some of its promises to the electorate, expressed hope of a better electoral process ahead of the 2019 elections.
According to him, production and distribution of permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) could not be delivered to Nigerians as planned by the commission.
“We promised to do a number of things but we couldn’t deliver all, for instance, Only 60 per cent of PVCs were distributed in the whole of Ogun state, while 5.6 million eligible voters were able to redeem their PVCs in Lagos, out of about 5.8 million who registered, this means that around 200,000 eligible voters were disenfranchised,” he said.
However, the UNDP-DGD Project II Election Expert, Prof. Bolaji Eyinla, has suggested that the commission should retain some members of Jega advisory team for institutional memory and better planning of the 2019 elections.
Eyinla noted that Jega’s effective management of men and resources and his calmness in the face of opened provocation accounted for the success of 2015 elections.
“I am also aware that Jega was supported by a body of technical advisers, it is not out of place to suggest that some of these technical advisers are retained by the electoral management body for institutional memories and of course for designing electoral success in 2019, so some of the team members sould be kept.”
INEC spokesperson, Nick Dazang, was quoted to have said that Jega would be in office until the end of the month.
Meanwhile, the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has said it was restrained from imposing sanctions on broadcast stations which allegedly flaunted the code of conduct for broadcasting operations during the 2015 elections due to ongoing court cases.
Director in the office of the NBC’s Director General, Armstrong Idachaba, who spoke at the review meeting, said over 30 broadcast stations were sanctioned by the commission for their indiscretions, majorly on political broadcasts.
He explained that NBC could not act on certain cases due to ongoing litigations. “When matters are in court, there is little or nothing a regulator can do, because it restrains the regulator from acting any further, since NBC is joined as a party in the court. Out of about 400 broadcast stations in Nigeria, just a few carried out content breaches under the cover of political advertising, we drew their attention to it and we ask them to respond. But some of these things take time, where there are allegations and counter allegations, we have to investigate,” he said.
Idachalla however denied that NBC hurriedly issued warning to certain broadcast stations upon the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the president-elect, saying the commission meted out sanctions before and during the elections.

The rate of infidelity in marriages these days is quite alarming. Read this man’s sad story below:
I found out my wife of 11 years cheated on me with her boyfriend. This was last year June. She confessed to me after I confronted her with the facts. I decided to forgive her and stay married to her because I have cheated on her in the past too and I didn’t want to destroy our family because we have four small children together.
The thing now is; I don’t love her anymore. I can’t stand her and can’t even bare to touch her…
When she talks to me I get so angry I feel like stabbing her in the eye but I’ve never laid hands on her. I don’t talk to her much except when we want to talk about the kids. We live in the same house but as strangers.
She’s really tried to make it up but it’s not working. I actually hate it when she’s around me, and haven’t touched her since I found out about the cheating. I thought my anger and disgust at her would fade with time but it’s been 9 months and I still feel this way.
Will this anger ever go away or should I just end things with her?

One Dead, 60 Houses Razed As Friends Fight Over Girlfriend In Akwa Ibom(photo)

Below(90 year old woman outside her razed house) One person was killed, 60 houses razed and over 400 persons rendered homeless in a disgraceful inter-communal crisis that broke out, weekend, between youths of Ikot Umiang and Ikot Edah communities, Nkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
Niger Delta Voice learned that the fracas that caused extensive havoc to the residences of the Village Head of Ikot Edah, Ete Idung Sunday Usoro, and councillor representing Ikpa Ikono, Ward 2, Mr. Nkreuwem James, was kindled by a dispute between two boys from both communities over a girlfriend.
Besides property running into millions of naira and money that were looted, about 40 motorcycles, bicycles and ancestral heritages were torched. Two cars belonging to the monarch were also destroyed.
A dependable source told Niger Delta Voice “A young man, who hails from Ikot Umiang and residing in Ikot Edah had a minor misunderstanding with his friend, an indigene of Ikot Edah, over a lady both of them had dated previously.
“What really transpired between them is not clear. But it was so serious that in the evening of the following day, when the Ikot Umiang boy was passing through Ikot Edah after his normal business, the Ikot Edah-based lover boy and his gang waylaid and stabbed him to death.”
Revenge In an apparent reprisal attack, youths of Ikot Umiang invaded Ikot Edah at about 8a.m with guns, machetes, axes, fuel and other dangerous weapons, burning all the houses in the community.
The invaders manhandled aged people, especially the women who tried to plead with them. Our source said inhabitants of the community, mainly peasant farmers and traders, were setting out for their farms and shops on the ill-fated day, when the invaders stormed the town.
A villager, Aniete Bradforth, said: “The Ikot Umiang youths came in like soldier ants with guns, petrol and matches and before we knew what was happening, this house (pointing to a residence) was on fire. “They beat up a 90-year-old woman, who lives here, leaving her with injuries all over her body.”
The village head, Usoro, said: “I watched my house set ablaze with N2 million cash inside. ”Usoro said he was on his way to the Police Station to lodge a report that a corpse was abandoned in the community when armed youths of Ikot Umiang invaded Ikot Edah.
He said the attacking youths were armed, but that police were able to make some arrests. A fish seller, who is in her 60s, Mmayen Bassey, bemoaned: “I have been keeping money in my wrapper for over 10 years to buy a piece of land. It has amounted to over N200,000. Today, I am as good as dead as they all got burnt; not even to talk about my goods.”
Niger Delta Voice observed during a visit that the houses in Ikot Edah were completely razed. There was uneasy calm in the community as victims wailed and called on government and public-spirited individuals to come to their assistance.

New Salaries For Buhari, Ministers, Govs, Others

Following 50 per cent drop in revenue, inflation and the high cost of living, the Federal Government has commenced the review of theRemuneration Act which will affect what the
president, vice president, governors, and others will earn. The review will also affect the remunerations of other political officeholders including the ministers, the National Assembly members and
the judiciary. Speaking exclusively to Daily Sun at the weekend,Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Elias Mbam, said the review is undergoing a process to determine
whether it will be reviewed upward or downward. He, however, noted that given the harsh realities on ground, the 2008 Remuneration Act must be reviewed.“The commission is not insensitive to the realities
on ground. There is a drop in the oil price, there is a general economic downward trend. Many states are even finding it difficult to pay salaries. In view of this situation, the commission has
commenced the review of the remuneration of the present Act of 2008 and by the time we conclude, we will make public our position with regard to the new Remuneration Act,” he said.
Mbam said the commission will consider other things in tandem with what is happening in other parts of the world.“The thing is that we are not working in isolation of other parts of the world. We are also looking
at what is obtainable elsewhere. What is being paid in the private sector. What type of work do you do? What are the risks? Does the work require the allowance that you are earning?
What are the shortcomings of the present Remuneration Act? What is the rate of inflation? So, it is not something you just say, increase or decrease. But certainly, there will be some
changes,” he emphasized. On the time-frame of the new remuneration law, the chairman said it should come up with a new proposal before the end of the third quarter.“It is before the end of September because when
we come out with our new proposal, it will still go through the National Assembly for the executive arm of the government. But for the legislators, our determined emolument is final.
When we conclude, whatever we decide for the legislators is final. But that of the executive will still go through legislative process. But whatever they will decide finally will not be more than
what the commission decided,” Mbam noted. At the moment, the President earns N3.51million per year, Vice President (N3.03 million), Minister (N2.02 million), Minister of State
(N1.95 million) and Special Adviser (N1.94million), Governor (N2.22 million), Deputy Governor (N2.11 million), and Commissioners (N1.33 million).

Housewife Kills Husband For Allegedly Keeping Late Night In Kaduna

The police in Kaduna have arrested a 40-year- old housewife, Mary Luca, who allegedly clubbed her husband to death at their Gonin Gora area of Kaduna metropolis.Family sources said the incident occurred last Friday when the deceased returned home in the early hours of the morning and an argument ensued after the wife’s complaint that her husband always returned home late.
“Mary had on several occasions accused her husband of keeping late hours outside the matrimonial home and had advised him to put a stop to such habit,” the source said. One of the deceased’s sons, Kefa, said he heard his father shouting around 3am that day and called on his mother to inquire what was happening to his father.
The sources said: “He said the mother shouted back at him from her room to keep off and remain quiet that armed armed robbers were operating.“Kefa said the more he tried to get closer to his father, the more the mother was shouting, thieves! thieves! thieves!
“Kefa said when he finally summoned courage to enter his father’s room, he found him vomiting blood and he could no longer talk, while his mother was still pretending that it was armed robbers who attacked him.
“There was a heavy object by his side and it was the forehead that was bleeding profusely. So, at day-break, neighbours came around to help and the police outpost at Gonin Gora arrested the woman and took her to Sabon Tasha Police station.”
The Police Public Relations Officer at the Kaduna State police command, Abubakar Zubairu, confirmed the incident and the detention of the accused.
“Yes, we have detained the woman in connection with the death of her husband,” Zubairu said.

I Will Declare My Assets Publicly As Promised - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that in fulfilment of one of their campaign promises, his declared assets and those of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be released to the public upon the completion of their verification by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).His clarification will quiet critics who complained about his statement early this week that anyone who needs to see it has to request for it via an FOI request to the Code of Conduct Bureau. The president expressed hope that the verification process by CCB will be completed before the expiry of the 100-day deadline within which he promised to declare his assets. The Senior Special Assistant, SSA (Media and Publicity), Mal. Garba Shehu who announced this in a statement on behalf of the President on Saturday, 6 June, said “the duly completed forms by both the President and the Vice President were submitted to the CCB on March 28th, a clear day ahead of their inauguration.”He said this statement was warranted by the need to clarify some suggestions that the President and the Vice-President may not, after all, declare their assets publicly.“While such public display of concern is appreciated and valued, it must be said that it is a little precipitate.“As required by law, the declaration and submission of documents to the CCB have been made, but there still remains the aspect of verification which the Bureau will have to conduct to authenticate the submissions made to it.“In the circumstances, it is only after this verification exercise, and not before, that the declaration can be said to have been made and validated; and only after this, will the details be released to the public.“There is no question at all that the President and the Vice President are committed to public declaration of their assets within the 100 days that they pledged during the presidential campaign.“The President and the Vice President wish to thank Nigerians for their show of concern, and for the confidence they have shown in their leaders’ integrity, as evidenced by the high pedestal of uprightness and expectations on which they have placed them.”

See what Buhari Set to do Today

LAGOS — THE shape and faces to the Muhammadu Buhari administration will begin to unfold today baring any last minute change of mind by the president, Vanguard has learnt. Among those to be named are the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and personal staff of the president and the vice-president.
Yesterday, the president requested the Senate to approve 15 special advisers for him. Meanwhile, the delay in the announcement of senior officials of the new administration, it was learnt yesterday, flowed from the delay by the former officials of Goodluck Jonathan administration in forwarding their handover notes to the transition committee constituted by Buhari.
Sources close to the President and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, disclosed yesterday that the president would make known the senior officials of his government today. Besides the Chief of Staff and SGF, other officials to be named may include the Special Adviser to the National Assembly, Political Adviser among senior aides of the president.
“The announcements will be made today baring a last minute change of decision,” a source privy to the development told Vanguard last night even as he added that the president’s scheduled trip to Niger and Chad may be the only factors that may delay the announcement. Meanwhile, a senior associate of the president yesterday traced the delay in the announcement of the president’s senior aides to the delay in the transmission of the handover notes by the Jonathan officials to the transition team constituted by Buhari ahead of his inauguration.
“All we have been doing since Friday is poring over these notes. This is because you need to know the position of things before you delegate the appropriate personnel to any establishment of government,” a source privy to the ongoing developments told Vanguard last night.

The RIVERS State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has directed permanent secretaries in the state to produce account details of their ministries’ expenditure over the last 18 months.

Wike also advised the permanent secretaries to shun partisan politics as career civil servants, adding that the role some of them played in the closing days of the immediate past administration was politically-motivated.The governor, who addressed the permanent secretaries during a meeting at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday, expressed regret that some of them helped the immediate past administration to illegally withdraw funds from government coffers up to May 28, 2015.“I want full details and printout of every ministry’s account in the last 18 months. I will not accept any handover note without an accompanying account details.
“The government was coming to a close and some of you were busy signing cheques on 26th, 27th and 28th of May. On May 28, the Transition Committee called most of you and you refused to cooperate because they told you I would not be sworn in,” Wike told the permanent secretaries.
The governor, who promised that he would not embark on a witch-hunt of any civil servant irrespective of his role during the electioneering period, maintained that no civil servant would be allowed to sabotage the efforts of his administration. He, however, urged the permanent secretaries to work with his administration to revive the state and put back smiles on the faces of the people.

The governor added that all backdated employments and indiscriminate issuance of certificates of occupancy by the immediate past administration would be re-visited.

Wike specifically directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Survey to produce relevant land documents for examination.
