Following the intervention of the lover’s elder sister who resides in neighbouring Benin, the relationship continued and Chinyere was invited to his his residence around Okpanam community. Later that day, they both took a stroll. According to eyewitness reports, Chinyere scooped sand from her lover’s footprint into a small can when he walked away — to buy water, as was reported.She allegedly jumped into a commercial tricycle and fled the scene after scooping the sand. Unfortunately for the love-struck lady, passersby saw her and raised alarm. What follows is sketchy, but a mob gathered and beat up Chinyere, nearly killing her.
